Amateur Goalie's Dream Turns into a Nightmare

Scott Foster's NHL Debut Ends in Disaster

Foster Allows 6 Goals in 26 Minutes as Blackhawks Lose 9-2

Amateur goalie Scott Foster's dream of playing in the NHL turned into a nightmare on Thursday night. Foster, who was called up as an emergency backup after Chicago lost two goaltenders to injuries, allowed six goals on 26 shots in a 9-2 loss to the Detroit Red Wings.

Foster, who has never played a professional game before, was thrust into the spotlight after Anton Forsberg and Collin Delia were both injured during the Blackhawks' morning skate. Foster, a 29-year-old from Sterling Heights, Michigan, had never even played in an NCAA game before.

Despite the difficult circumstances, Foster said he was excited to get the opportunity to play in the NHL.

"It's a dream come true," Foster said before the game. "I've been working towards this my whole life."

However, Foster's dream quickly turned into a nightmare. The Red Wings scored three goals on their first five shots, and Foster was pulled after allowing four goals on 13 shots in the first period.

Foster was replaced by Kevin Lankinen, who allowed two goals on 13 shots in the second period.

The Blackhawks have now lost four straight games and are in last place in the NHL's Central Division.
